What the day will look like
We are seeking a Property Claim Consultant to serve in a senior-level, trusted adviser capacity, supporting large and complex commercial property insurance claims. This role is aligned to a Senior Consultant / Associate Director-level position and provides consultative claim preparation advice, strategic guidance, and quantification of complex property damage losses.
The Property Claim Consultant will lead or co-lead the claim preparation process depending on claim size and complexity, working closely with the client, internal Account team, and multidisciplinary claim preparation resources to deliver credible, defensible claim submissions through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Claim Preparation Advisory & Strategy
Act as a trusted adviser to clients by developing claim preparation strategies, documentation frameworks, and loss presentation approaches aligned with policy terms and insurer expectations.
Provide strategic guidance on claim positioning, repair-versus-replace considerations, and recovery pathways.
Lead or co-lead claim preparation efforts depending on complexity, coordinating inputs and priorities across all stakeholders.
- Property Damage & Construction Loss Consulting
Lead and oversee the analysis and quantification of large and complex property damage and construction-related losses.
Develop and review repair and rebuild scopes, contractor estimates, and loss valuations in collaboration with engineers and construction professionals.
Prepare replacement cost valuations, repair-versus-replace analyses, and loss mitigation recommendations.
Evaluate rebuild sequencing, construction schedules, and schedule-driven impacts to support claim recovery strategy and loss quantification.
Utilize and review outputs from industry-standard estimating tools and cost databases such as RS Means and Marshall & Swift; Xactimate experience is a plus.
- Financial & Claim Analysis
Review, interpret, and validate financial and accounting records including budgets, invoices, contracts, inventory, and operational data.
Ensure losses are quantified in accordance with policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and applicable sublimits.
Oversee the compilation, validation, and reconciliation of large data sets supporting complex claim submissions.
- Client & Stakeholder Interaction
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on assigned claims, providing technical guidance, clear communication, and strategic direction.
Collaborate closely with the client, internal Account team, and claim preparation team to ensure alignment and efficient execution.
Engage directly with insurers, adjusters, brokers, legal counsel, engineers, and auditors, and support negotiations, mediations, and settlement discussions as required.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
7-10+ years of experience in property insurance claims consulting, claim preparation, construction loss evaluation, or related forensic or advisory roles.
Strong working knowledge of commercial property insurance coverage, claim processes, and loss documentation standards.
Demonstrated experience leading or co-leading complex or large-loss property damage claims.
Advanced understanding of construction estimating, repair methodologies, and key cost drivers.
Proven ability to act as a client-facing adviser with sound professional judgment.
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Pay Transparency Laws:
The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $130,000 to $170,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
