A growing professional-lines claims operation is seeking an experienced Professional Liability Claims Specialist / Claims Lead to assist with the handling, oversight, and continued development of its professional liability claims platform.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned claims professional who enjoys working on sophisticated professional liability / E&O matters and wants a meaningful role with visibility, flexibility, and the ability to help improve processes, reporting, and claim-file discipline in a growing business.
The role will involve professional liability claims, including matters involving lawyers, accountants, insurance agents and brokers, architects and engineers, real estate professionals, and other miscellaneous professional liability risks.
The position may be remote, although Illinois / Greater Chicago candidates are preferred. Competitive compensation will be offered based on experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Handling and managing professional liability claims from intake through resolution
- Evaluating liability, damages, coverage issues, reserves, and litigation strategy
- Working closely with defense counsel and monitoring litigation activity
- Preparing thoughtful claim notes, reports, evaluations, and status updates
- Communicating professionally with clients, carriers, insureds, counsel, and other stakeholders
- Assisting with claim-file organization, documentation, reporting, and audit compliance
- Helping refine claim-handling protocols, reporting practices, and internal procedures
- Supporting claim reviews, file audits, and process improvements
- Ensuring claims are handled timely, professionally, and consistent with applicable guidelines
Preferred qualifications:
- Significant experience handling professional liability, E&O, or professional lines claims
- Experience with lawyers professional liability, accountants professional liability, insurance agents/brokers E&O, A&E, or miscellaneous professional liability claims
- Strong litigation-management and defense-counsel oversight experience
- Ability to evaluate claims-made coverage issues, liability exposure, damages, and reserves
- Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to claim-file documentation
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and communicate proactively in a remote environment
- Texas adjuster license preferred, or willingness to obtain one
- JD preferred, but not required
