Position details:

Oversees a diverse array of claims that are in litigation and determine the best course of action to bring about the most favorable result for our insured member and for the Exchange.

Works closely with defense counsel and electric system personnel nationwide to develop defense strategies.

Evaluates claim reserves to ensure they are commensurate with liability exposure and expense projections.

Coordinates immediate investigations of significant injury/damage events such as contact with electricity, severe vehicle accidents, and wildfires. This responsibility involves retaining defense attorneys and appropriate experts to conduct investigations in anticipation of litigation.

Provides legal and technical advice to claims department personnel as well as other departments within the organization.

Researches and provides insurance coverage opinions as appropriate.

Reports to reinsurers as appropriate.

Attends trials, mediations and speaking engagements when needed.

Requirements

Education and Experience

Law degree and an active state bar membership

Minimum of 3 years’ litigation experience.
