Surveyor Marine National Sr
PRIMARY PURPOSE : To be responsible for the inspection of cargo damaged in transit; to investigate and review damage surveys of $1,000,000 or more; and to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages.
- Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
- Provides written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.
- Receives and reviews new claims and maintains data integrity in the claims system.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Skills & Knowledge
- Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Good customer service skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical :
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to kneel, squat or bend.
- Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions.
- Have the ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reaching/working overhead,
- Be able lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day.
- Must have continual use of manual dexterity.

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $75-$150k. A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
