Description and RequirementsThe Team You Will Join
Cloud Core Engineering is responsible for the management of essential components within MetLife's global Azure infrastructure. We are responsible for subscription creation, Azure policy, role management, and core networking elements such as DNS, express routes, and VNETs. Collaborating closely with the Cloud Security team, we define and implement controls that comply with established security practices.
The Opportunity
The Sr Cloud Engineer is responsible for application and platform teams to build and operate cloud-based applications in an efficient, safe, and compliant manner. We maintain a global view of cloud adoption and leverage infrastructure as code to engineer a cloud platform providing self-service capabilities and metrics to drive desired behaviors around financial operations, security posture, and overall good hygiene for cloud-based applications.
As part of our continued focus on driving efficiencies related to cloud adoption and developer productivity, we are looking for an Azure cloud engineer to join a technical team responsible for managing and administering the cloud service provider accounts and subscriptions utilized by MetLife application and platform teams.
This Azure engineer will assist cloud governance functions, workload landing zone design, network engineering, and operation of shared cloud platform services in collaboration with architecture, information security, and application development teams
Objectives of this role:
Partner with key stakeholders to enable the safe and secure consumption of cloud services with an eye on self-service and developer productivity. Implement design processes and strategies for integrating new cloud services into the operational model. Support cross-functional teams in identifying and prioritizing key areas of business where cloud services can drive significant business benefit. Establish and drive the adoption of standards globally by collaborating with regional teams in Asia Pacific, Latin America, and EMEA
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
Key Responsibilities:
Support a comprehensive cloud operating model, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems, data, and services.- Participate in a team of cloud engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess security requirements, applicability of new cloud capabilities, and support the cloud service catalog.
- Implement and maintain security controls, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with MetLife standards, industry regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, App teams and external partners to design and implement secure cloud-based solutions that meet business objectives.
- Participate in regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests, and develop remediation plans as necessary.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud service providers such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code and centralized management of cloud shared services.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source code management systems, infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Bicep.
- Experience securing and managing cloud services in a highly regulated industry.
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
