Description
The Hanover Technology Group is hiring a Senior Network Engineer for our Data Network Services team in the Worcester, MA location.This is a full time, exempt position.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
He/She will be responsible for the engineering, installation, configuration, security, performance, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the F5 APM environment, with secondary responsibilities in typical networking areas.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL PRIMARILY:
- Support the F5 APM environment as a dedicated member of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team.
- Deliver APM solutions as needed to further the integration of the IAM program throughout the technology landscape.
- F5 APM Policy Development and Support (Access and Request)
- F5 iRule programming
- F5 APM OAuth & SAML Integrations
- Maintain F5 APM documentation, drawings, and as-builts
- Crosstrain other members of the networking team.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU COULD ALSO SECONDARILY:
- Engineer, configure, implement, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, patch, and secure network infrastructure components.
- In collaboration with our MSP, troubleshoot and resolve networking infrastructure and equipment problems, including configuration, hardware, and software problems, in a timely and effective manner.
- Rack and install equipment in datacenters and colo-facilities.
- Collaborate and coordinate with telecommunications providers, vendors, and partners.
- Use Visio to create and maintain detailed network drawings at the ISO Layers 1, 2, & 3 level.
- Participate in change management meetings.
- Recommend upgrades, enhancements, and other technology-debt remediation efforts.
- Drive Technology Services Lifecycle Management activities related to vulnerability and configuration management.
- Create SOPs, plans, and other documentation to aid with knowledge transfer to other engineers.
- Serve as network technology SME and 3rd level escalation support for other engineers, teams, and business personnel.
- Teach, train, and mentor peers and colleagues on network infrastructure principles and practices.
- Make difficult decisions under pressure, balancing the need to gather detailed information and perform analysis, with the need for timeliness.
- Participates in and promotes co-operative working relationships across organizations including knowledge sharing and partnership in achieving solutions.
- Stay abreast of changes in the IT networking industry.
- May be required to work onsite, and during off-hour maintenance windows.
- May be required to provide off hours support including nights and weekends.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Extensive experience with F5 APM Access and Request Policies, as well as iRule programming.
- Experience working with a team of network engineers and operations members possessing various levels of experience from junior through senior level.
- Experience working with Managed Services resources with offshore personnel including the coordination and tracking of deliverables.
- Experience leading through teaching and mentoring.
- Must have excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Project management, and time management skills.
- Experience with enterprise change management practices.
- Familiarity with ITIL service management frameworks and practices.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative and highly matrixed, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, transparent, and flexible work environment.
- Ability to build strong insightful relationships quickly; must have top-notch communication skills (oral and written); must be able to network effectively at all levels but especially at the executive and business partner level.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 8-10 years of professional experience in IT network engineering and operations.
- Must have 5+ years of hands-on experience with F5 platforms including LTM, iRules, APM and associated polices.
- Understanding of LAN and WAN technologies, protocols, and designs.
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus routing and switching platforms, including IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS operating systems, and common HA and redundancy features.
- Experience with Cisco ACI fabrics and infrastructure.
- Experience with Aruba Wireless Networking.
- Experience with Citrix NetScaler VPN.
- Experience with Infoblox grids.
- Experience with common LAN/WAN routing protocols including (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and others)
- Familiarity with Cloud based networking in Azure.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows Operating Systems
- Familiarity with foundational enterprise technologies such as DNS, DHCP, PKI, LDAP, Syslog, and Monitoring systems.

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
