Our Information Technology department is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Mainframe Engineer to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters or Remote work arrangement.POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated self-starter with progressive experience managing a mainframe environment. In this role, you will apply expert knowledge of engineering principles to research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain mainframe systems and product solutions.
Assist with coordinating within IT and vendors on both technical and non-technical issues pertaining to mainframe computer system hardware and software. Conduct complex work assignments under limited supervision.

This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Be responsible for the overall management and administration of Mainframe CICS for z/OS and MQ for z/OS subsystems across a multiple Sysplex and CEC environment.
- Provide technical direction and education as needed to an external outsourced partner and internal team members, ensuring expected outcomes are achieved per relevant contracts, SLA's & KPI's.
- Prototype new features, functions and strategies for new mainframe application subsystem technology.
- Capable of creating Mainframe roadmaps, processes, best practices, standards and strategies for continuous improvement of monitoring, performance, resiliency, availability, and scalability of CICS, DB2, and MQ on System Z aligned to business objectives.
- Partner with internal lines of business to incorporate business plans into capacity plans.
- Responsible for mainframe systems analysis, design, development, integration, enhancement, and deployment for multiple on-going projects to ensure proper performance and functionality requirements are met in the most cost-effective manner.
- Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs.
- Create and manage the life cycle of technical specifications using mainframe engineering best practices.
- Provide forward-thinking technical expertise in current and emerging technologies, trends, and practices.
- Ensure compliance to mainframe licensing, hardware, software life-cycle management, and portfolio roadmaps.
- Analyze incident, problem and change records to determine any trends or apparent problems that have occurred and take any opportunities to improve service quality.
- Responsible for all audit initiatives related to the mainframe platform.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Experience with IBM Mainframe hardware, including z15 and z16 business class machines. DS8910 SAN Storage, TS7770/TS7780 Virtual Tape Systems
- Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (i.e Lawful Permanent Residence or US Citizen)
- Experience with wide variety of mainframe system software products and concepts such as Z/OS - (Assembler coding & programming languages, IODF, HMC, WLM, RACF, TSO JES, SDSF, SYSPLEX, SMP/E, DB2, CICS, IBM MQ, HSM, RMF, SMF, SCRT). Storage planning, Automation, Omegamon, EOS/WSF, OPC, Endevor, IBM DB2 Tools, Tomcat, manage software licenses, SCRT, ELA, CBU, COD, MSU, MIPS, and VU based.
- Experience leading systems analysis, design, and architecture efforts
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root cause of issues and provide solutions
- Self-motivated and proactive, able to learn quickly and apply new concepts, tools and applications
- Advanced problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking, team building, and presentation skills
- Expert verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Embraces and leverages diversity of talent, experience and perspective
- Budget management experience helpful

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
