Our Risk Solutions team is currently seeking a Field Manager in our Northeast Territory. This is a full time, exempt role. Position is based out of our Worcester, MA office and is eligible for remote location in New England.POSITION OVERVIEW:
Partners with the RS Field Director in leading a regional Risk Solutions team and is responsible for the daily operations of a small number of staff. Provides technical support to the risk solutions and underwriting teams including survey, service, and training. Highly engaged in the relationship with regional underwriters and underwriting managers. Conducts high level technical evaluations and loss analysis of more complex prospective or existing policyholders in a consultative manner. Identifies and analyzes exposures and controls. Delivers consultative and technical services to policyholders. Manages the delivery of services in support of the regional business strategy including underwriting and policyholders.
The Risk Solutions Manager typically manages three to five direct reports within the region.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Service Quality and Effectiveness
- Implements risk solutions consultative services in support of regional business plans by focusing on loss mitigation strategies, risk assessment, and improvement opportunities.
- Oversees Risk Solutions Service Delivery.
- Manages utilization of available Risk Solutions' tools and resources.
- Reviews regional service accounts, new business, and renewal accounts for new Service and Stewardship opportunities.
- Achieves quality metrics for service delivery.
Survey Quality and Efficiency
- Leads staff to meet/exceed established performance metrics.
- Manages unsatisfactory rated accounts and recommendation tracking.
- Manages staff and vendor use appropriately.
- Achieves survey quality goals as outlined in the best practice.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partners with Risk Solutions Field Director and Technical Directors to provide the field with technical resources and training materials for internal and external customers.
- Works with the Regional RS Field Director to align the strategic priorities of the risk solutions region with the direction and strategic priorities of the regional underwriting team.
- Partners with Core and Specialty underwriting, Field Sales, and other internal business units.
- Collaborates with key agency partners to service their Hanover policyholders and support their growth plans.
Talent Management
- Builds and maintains a diverse talent pipeline of risk solutions candidates.
- Has the ability to hire and develop top performing risk solutions consultants.
- Identifies staff strengths and opportunities and addresses the opportunities through skill improvement and development.
- Provides coaching to staff through joint visits and quality reviews.
- Ability to coach staff in creating effective development plans focused on career progression.
Key Measures of Success :
Successfully addresses talent management initiatives, technical training, development of staff, and talent acquisition.
Effective execution of service delivery.
Achieve/exceed performance metrics of staff and the region.
Effectively manages expenses.
Implementation and utilization of RS tools and resources.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- B.S. degree in a related field to include health and safety, science, engineering or equivalent.
- Professional loss control certification preferred to include CSP, PE, CPCU, ARM.
- High level of skill and competency in Microsoft products such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- 10+ years of field and/or specialty loss control experience.
- 5+ years management experience required.

- Loss Control Knowledge/Skills - Knows and applies a high level of technical knowledge for Property/Casualty lines of business including the knowledge of exposure/hazards and controls. Knows and demonstrates a consultative approach with clients. Can evaluate the skill levels of staff to determine referral limits and training needs. Stays current with industry information and technical knowledge of standards and codes as applied to the job function.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Ability to operate a motor vehicle
Ability to travel as necessary (up to 50% travel required)
Ability to climb a ladder at various heights
Ability to work in cold and/or hot environments

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience.
