Description
The Hanover Technology Group is seeking a Principal Solution Architect to join our team in our Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters, or remote work consideration.This is a full time, exempt position.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Principal Solution Architect (PSA) provides leadership and facilitation for project or program solution design. The PSA guides projects on their overall high-level solution approach, engagement with the broader project team, and represents the solution design at the formal architecture review board meeting. The PSA is the owner of the project solution architecture process and solution architecture artifacts, with a strong focus on hybrid cloud strategy, enterprise application integration, and identity architecture.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Be responsible for understanding and enforcing enterprise architectural principles, standards & patterns at the project level, with a focus on hybrid cloud and identity-first design.
 - Drive technology and thought leadership across technical projects, especially in cloud-native and hybrid cloud environments.
 - Lead strategic planning and road mapping activities for enterprise applications and identity platforms.
 - Act with oversight from senior Architecture personnel and consult/enlist other architecture team members as required.
 - Work in close partnership with business community, business analysts, information and data architects to design and deliver impactful business software solutions.
 - Own the technical approach, high-level and detailed design of the project in accordance with architectural standards, with emphasis on secure cloud integration and identity governance.
 - Enforce the use of standard tools and products across projects as directed by the Enterprise Architecture Organization, including cloud-native services and identity platforms.
 - Champion and conform applications to accepted Development Operations (DevOps) practices, including CI/CD pipelines in hybrid cloud environments.
 - Identify and document the nonfunctional requirements for the application design, including scalability, security, and identity federation.
 - Support the project implementation team and serve as SME for Production Support team for occasional troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts.
 - Collaborate closely with project managers for project status and estimation of resource needs.
 - Assist project managers in recognizing and mitigating any risks to the solution's overall success or to existing systems and business processes.
 - Understand and mitigate the technical design impact on security, performance, and data privacy through review of proposed configurations and system implementations.
 - Explain existing system capabilities to key business users as well as any modifications in support of business processes.
 - Leverage existing shared capabilities, products, and software in proposed solutions, including enterprise identity platforms and cloud services.
 - Review documentation provided by vendors and internal technical analysis teams for technical accuracy in meeting business needs.
 - Review and approve technical specifications; support subsequent delivery processes to ensure solution meets business and architectural objectives as envisioned.
 - Mentor technical leads and developers in answering questions regarding the architecture and design of our systems, especially in cloud and identity domains.
 - Ensure project compliance to approved software development methodologies.
 - Work comfortably in SDLC selected by project (waterfall, agile or combination of both).
 - Communicate both technically and conceptually to provide architecture leadership and guidance to business and technical team members throughout the course of the project.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
 - Minimum of 10-12 years in the industry with increasing software development responsibility.
 - Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
 - Strong analytical, out-of-the-box thinking with exposure to multiple, diverse business systems, technologies, and processing environments.
 - Proven experience in software architecture, solution design, and development a must have for this role.
 - 8+ years experience with designing secure web applications (Web services, Integration components, and Web components).
 - Solid foundation in Identity and Access Management (IAM) at enterprise scale, including SSO, MFA, federation, and lifecycle management in hybrid cloud environments.
 - Deep understanding of hybrid cloud architectures, including integration of on-premises systems with public cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred).
 - Experience with enterprise application platforms, including ERP, CRM, and policy administration systems.
 - Advanced knowledge of designing and developing APIs (RESTful APIs), including secure API gateways and identity-aware services.
 - Experience with enterprise integration technologies such as IBM Application Connect Exchange (ACE), Azure Service Bus, and API Management tools such as Azure APIM is preferred.
 - Understanding of how changes/updates affect not only the specific domain but also other systems in assigned business unit.
 - Strong interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
 - Strong planning, facilitation, and organizational skills.
 - Solid written and verbal communication skills.
 - Ability to understand both strategic ("big picture") and tactical perspectives of situations.
 - Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.
 - Ability to estimate the financial impact of individual solution architecture alternatives.
 - Ability to define multiple solution options to business problems.
 - Knowledge of key aspects of The Hanover's business.
 - Basic knowledge of information principles and policies.
 - Understanding of application development methodologies.
 - Understanding of SOA, object-oriented analysis and design, or client/server systems.
 - Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience.
