Description and RequirementsThe Team You Will Join
The position sits within the newly consolidated Data and Analytics (D&A) organization supporting the U.S. Business of MetLife. U.S. D&A assists all business lines of MetLife's U.S. business (about 2/3 of MetLife Global by earnings) with everything related to data, analytics and data science, from data infrastructure, data governance, data engineering, data modeling, data analysis to business intelligence, data science and AI.
Role Overview
This Director level Data Architect plays a critical role in data and analytics life cycle and significantly contributes to architect & design of data and analytics solutions. The role requires one to demonstrate Data (both traditional and modern) Management, Engineering, Data Modeling, Visualization, Salesforce and Cloud expertise. It is an individual contributor role expected to be highly technical.
Responsibilities
- Design and solution end to end data architecture for data hubs/data products and Salesforce data all the way from source systems to consumption via Salesforce, web applications and reporting & analytics solutions.
- Solve complex problems using data and advanced technologies.
- Own/Approve data models for data domains within the US Group Benefits business.
- Design data pipelines for analytical/operational needs.
- Ideate, Solution and lead to building reusable data frameworks for enterprise.
- Lead POCs to evaluate new technologies, Data products, Salesforce products and solutions as needed.
- Provide oversight for ongoing initiatives and ensure adherence to defined architecture, quality, security, and compliance guidelines, policies and standards.
- Build, optimize and troubleshoot ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data for batch/real time processing.
- Define and develop data standards, guidelines, patterns and recommendations to be used across the organization.
- Collaborate with multiple partners from Business, Technology, Operations and D&A capabilities (Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Modeling, Enterprise Architecture, Data science, DevOps, BI & insights).
- Independently lead design, solutioning & estimations.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of overall related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent educational qualification.
- Data architecture (traditional - examples include Oracle & SQL Server + modern - examples include AWS & Azure) and knowledge of Salesforce data architecture patterns.
- Data Modeling for OLTP & OLAP systems using various data modeling techniques.
- ETL pipeline design and development; solutioning and estimation.
- Knowledge of data quality and governance practices.
- Knowledge of BI Tools (Tableau, Power BI etc).
- Experience with Big Data and Cloud Frameworks: Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Hive.
- Exposure and knowledge of the following: Azure data factory, Synapse and/or Databricks.
- Data Warehouses, data marts, data lakes.
- Data integration strategies using APIs and ETL tools.
- Expertise in core data management processes.
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to Gen AI technology and tools
- Performance tuning, optimization, and data quality validation
- Real-time and batch data processing, streaming pipelines with Spark.
- Banking Financial Services and Insurance domain knowledge
- Experience with EventHub and Azure functions, Azure data factory, Synapse and Databricks.
- DevOps practices: Git, Azure Dev Ops, CI/CD pipelines
- Unix shell scripting, Kafka, MongoDB, Nifi, containerization.
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is $130,000 - $208,950. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
