Job Description
The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting database solutions for medium- to large-scale systems. This role provides advanced operational support across the database environment, ensures data availability and integrity, and contributes to lifecycle management with minimal supervision. The Senior DBA performs performance optimization, disaster recovery planning, troubleshooting, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and highly performant database solutions.

This position offers the flexibility to work remotely; however, candidates must reside in Mexico.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Design, create, and maintain physical database structures for enterprise applications.
  
• 
  Convert logical data models into physical models and generate DDL scripts for implementation.
  
• 
  Manage day-to-day database administration, including installations, upgrades, patching, security, capacity planning, and automation scripting.
  
• 
  Plan, execute, and validate Disaster Recovery (DR) tests independently for lower-tier systems and assist with higher-tier environments.
  
• 
  Participate in recovery and rollback procedures; ensure backup processes meet availability and data integrity requirements.
  
• 
  Analyze performance issues and recommend database tuning and configuration enhancements.
  
• 
  Collaborate with application developers, systems analysts, and vendors to diagnose and resolve complex performance incidents.
  
• 
  Implement and support replication and high-availability strategies using Oracle technologies such as Data Guard, GoldenGate, DPROP, and database mirroring tools.
  
• 
  Help design and optimize replication strategies aligned to organizational data protection standards.
  
• 
  Detect database bugs and identify required patches.
  
• 
  Coordinate with Oracle support for patch validation and create rollout plans to ensure long-term stability and problem resolution.
  
• 
  Work closely with architects, system teams, and developers to understand requirements and propose efficient database solutions.
  
• 
  Maintain documentation for database configurations, standards, recovery procedures, and runbooks.
  

Qualifications
Technical Skills and Experience

• 
  5+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administrator experience.
  
• 
  Experience supporting large-scale enterprise database environments.
  
• 
  Strong understanding of Oracle performance tuning, ASM, RMAN, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  
• 
  Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate preferred.
  
• 
  Scripting experience (Shell, PL/SQL, Python, or PowerShell) is a plus.
