Description
Our Corporate Controller's team is currently seeking a Lead Investment Accountant in our Worcester, MA location. This is a full time, exempt role. Position is eligible for Hybrid/Flex work arrangement.POSITION OVERVIEW:
Takes a lead role on U.S. GAAP and Statutory accounting and reporting functions and projects. Responsible for more complex accounting and analysis. Operates with considerable independence. May mentor and lead more junior team members.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Provide input to management on employee talent management assessment & review.
- May serve as a subject matter expert and have accountability & responsibility for an accounting process (i.e. oversee the completion and accuracy of an entire reporting deliverable such as an analysis binder section, the statistical supplement, statutory statement schedules, sections of a Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, etc.).
- May be responsible for review of complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Independently prepares and analyzes complex financial statements, footnotes and sections of management's discussion and analysis. Assists team members as needed.
- Participates on key financial initiatives; may have responsibility for a subset of work.
- May be primarily responsible for larger team initiatives.
- Responsible for detail review and analysis of accounting work papers of simple to medium complexity. Accountable for identifying discrepancies; initiating resolution with appropriate stakeholders.
- Responsible for the review of relevant industry and regulatory requirements and accounting guidance; including completing research, peer benchmark analyses, drafting internal U.S. GAAP and Statutory accounting memos and/or presenting findings to senior and executive leaders, as applicable.
- May be required to assist in team planning of assignments.
- May act as a team liaison with other departments, divisions, organizations, communicating effectively and appropriately for the given audience.
- May be required to identify process improvements and develop and oversee project plans to implement changes.
- May be required to design, build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support analysis and business decision-making.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
- Minimum 4+ years of experience with a "Big 4" CPA firm in the attest function and/or 3-5 years of progressive investment accounting/reporting experience.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting is required, a relevant master's degree is a plus.
- A current CPA license or actively pursuing a CPA license is preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI/Fabric, and data analytics skills, preferred.
- A track record of success, both academically and professionally, including demonstrated leadership qualities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to use a personal computer and standard office equipment.
Ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
Ability to work cooperatively.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods (75 - 90%)
Ability to travel, as needed.

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
