Our AFG Internal Audit Department is currently seeking intern candidates with responsibility to assure the safeguarding of assets and the reliability of company records for American Financial Group, Great American Insurance Group and their domestic and global subsidiaries through the performance of internal audit activities.
We are seeking interns who can start in summer 2026 and work full-time during the summer and continue working part-time the following school year. The intern will work out of our home office in downtown Cincinnati and will have a hybrid work from home/work in office schedule.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
• Perform internal audits and review internal controls for effectiveness and efficiency.
• Test the reasonableness of financial balances and ensure compliance with statutory and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Prepare electronic audit workpapers in accordance with company and external audit standards.
• Inform the audit coordinator of the progress of assignments and discuss results and recommendations for improvement with audit team and company management.
Job Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related majors.
- Current/most recent GPA of 3.00 or above.
- Campus involvement. Leadership experience a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to utilize critical thinking and technical aptitude to draw conclusions based on the information presented.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems of a moderate complexity independently.
- Ability and willingness to work well in teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

- Targeted learning objectives to obtain Co-op credit for colleges and universities.
- Paid internship with hourly wage based on educational and professional experience.
- Hybrid work flexibility.
- Part-time internship flexibility (Minimum of 20 Hours per week)
- Flexible scheduling to ensure the internship duration aligns with college/university semesters (3-4 Months).
