Insurance Loss Control Consultant - Florida - Orlando / Miami

Here's what you would be doing if hired for the loss control position. Currently we have an opening for a Loss Control Consultant in Florida. This role will provide technically competent Loss Control Services in accordance with company policies and procedures and to provide support services within the territory to help acquire and retain profitable business in accordance with our company objectives. The person hired for this position will work from their home and will be required to travel up to 60% of the time including some overnight travel. A company car is provided. In addition to a competitive total rewards program, we offer an annual discretionary bonus for this position.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Conducts loss prevention surveys/physical inspections of commercial accounts.
- Provides underwriters with an accurate description of the physical and operational details of an insured.
- Identifies hazards and potential loss exposures and makes recommendations to eliminate or reduce the potential loss.
- Consults with underwriters and other staff regarding account/line-of-business acceptability, exposures, and controls pertinent to the various lines of business.
- Assists underwriters and other staff relative to account operations, exposures, construction, and protection.
- Conducts accident investigation and loss analysis to identify causes.
- Employs effective sales and communication skills to achieve compliance with recommendations and provides safety and/or supervisory training to insureds.
- Conducts joint marketing presentations, in conjunction with Underwriting, Claims, and Marketing, to accounts and agents.
- Maintains specialized knowledge of company/department manuals and procedures, and relevant Federal, State, and other pertinent codes and regulations applicable to Property, Liability, and Casualty lines of coverage.
- Provides technical advice to lower-level positions and other functional areas.
- May review the work of and/or assist in training new employees.
- May lead the work of others (mentors, prioritizes, delegates, and reviews assignments).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Safety Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience: Generally, a minimum of 9 years of experience in loss control, risk management, or a related field within the property and casualty insurance industry. Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), Certified Safety and Health Management (CSHMS), Associate Loss Control Management (ALCM) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).
Scope of Job/Qualifications: Works on assignments of moderate to higher technical and logistical complexity. Displays advanced analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills. Maintains advanced knowledge of company policies and industry laws and regulations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and results-oriented consultative skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop effective solutions.

$104,000.00 -$130,400.00
