Description
Our Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis group is seeking a Financial/Data Analyst to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office (in office 2-3 days per week).Working in a corporate role, individual will provide financial data expertise and analysis to our +$6B Hanover organization. Identifies ways to improve consolidated reporting and enterprise close process automation; developing more effective ways to gather and analyze date. This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities:
- Monthly Reporting - Support monthly book close process and financial reporting requirements. Act as liaison with Segment Financial Officers, Claims, Actuarial and Accounting and Expense teams.
- Analysis & Interpretation - Analyze financial information to understand trends and variance drivers within each business and impact to overall division results.
- Automation/Process Improvement - Leverage technical skills and proactively look for ways to improve cycle times for reporting and close process.
- Presentations - Able to pull together financial information and summarize in a concise manner to report to senior management
- Data Compilation - Gather financial data from multiple sources as well as identify additional info that can be used for analysis.
- Planning & Forecasting - Coordinate and support annual financial planning cycle with business partners and financial team.
- Assist in competitive intelligence for Investor Relations, including listening and reporting on competitor's earnings calls
Requirements:
- 0-4+ years of related experience in finance/accounting positions
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) required
- Intellectual curiosity to identify and solve problems and improve processes
- Familiar with SQL, Python or other programming languages used to pull and decipher data
- Possesses and applies knowledge of financial analysis principles and practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to handle competing priorities simultaneously
- P&C insurance experience not required but preferred.
- Oracle Hyperion/IBM Cognos / Essbase experience not required, but preferred

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
