MetLife Insurance Investments (MII)
MetLife Insurance Investments (MII) is the global internal investment manager responsible for the general account (GA) and separate account assets of MetLife's Insurance Companies. For the general account, which totals over $400 billion in assets, MII develops and manages investment strategies in a manner consistent with business needs, including practicing asset-liability management and seeking investments with attractive relative value characteristics across asset sectors. MII designs strategic asset allocations to construct and manage portfolios while allowing for tactical adjustments that can maximize risk-adjusted returns over market cycles.
MII partners closely with each MetLife line of business to establish portfolio strategies, investment guidelines, and asset allocations to meet or exceed key metrics and other business objectives and interfaces with MIM, the primary asset manager for the general account. MII has oversight responsibility for asset managers managing about $105 billion of separate account assets and manages MetLife pension plan assets totaling about $12 billion.
The MII team consists of investment professionals across a diverse set of disciplines including insurance portfolio management, investment strategy, asset allocation, product pricing, asset sector oversight, derivative solutions and trading as well as analysis of external managers.
