Description
Description and RequirementsAVP, Global Vendor Management Governance
Location: Cary, NC
The Team You Will Join
The Global Third Party Management team oversees the aggregate risk MetLife assumes through its vendor and other third party relationships. This work is essential for regulatory compliance, protecting customers, and ensuring vendors meet contractual obligations. As part of its modernization efforts, the Third Party Management team is enhancing how vendor risk is measured, tracked, and mitigated. To support this evolution, a new Assistant Vice President position has been created to develop and launch an enterprise vendor performance management governance framework.
The Opportunity
The AVP of Global Third Party Management will lead the development and enterprise-wide socialization of a comprehensive policy that defines how MetLife should manage vendor delivery performance and resolve issues across all lines of business and legal entities. Drawing on lessons learned from the GTO Vendor Management Office, this leader will tailor the framework to meet global needs and engage senior stakeholders to communicate the rationale, secure buy-in, and guide adoption across impacted teams.
Once the policy is implemented, the AVP will establish governance mechanisms and performance metrics to monitor effectiveness and ensure sustained compliance. This role will be instrumental in embedding a consistent, global approach to third party performance management and issue resolution, reinforcing MetLife's commitment to driving a commercial mindset while moving with speed and discipline.

- Lead the development and enterprise-wide socialization of a global policy for managing third party delivery performance and issue resolution across all MetLife business lines and legal entities.
- Engage senior stakeholders to communicate the strategic need for the policy, secure buy-in, and align expectations for impacted teams and individuals.
- Oversee the creation of supporting standards and procedures that enable consistent implementation of the policy across centralized and decentralized vendor management models.
- Drive adoption of the policy through structured change management, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Establish and maintain governance mechanisms and performance metrics to monitor policy implementation and effectiveness.
- Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert on third party performance and issue management, contributing to the continued evolution of MetLife's third party oversight capabilities.

- Experience leading matrixed teams with governance oversight and coordination
- Strategic thinking and risk mindset
- Proven ability to drive execution as a change agent
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence partners
- Analytical and process skills with ability to analyze, interpret and utilize data to make decisions

- A working knowledge of vendor contract structures and terms
- 5+ years of experience at an insurance company or other financial services firm
- Experience with defining and reporting key performance indicators and other metrics
- Experience and knowledge of general risk and issue management frameworks
