Description and RequirementsAbout the Role
MetLife seeks a technical visionary, action-oriented leader to serve as Associate Vice President for Automation and AI Effectiveness. This role will enable global scale and coherence for MetLife's hybrid automation and AI platform ecosystem, combining orchestration, cognitive services, and generative AI to drive enterprise transformation.
Reporting to the Vice President of Automation & AI, this position is responsible for shaping platform engagement, accelerating adoption, and shaping the broader organizational mindset toward scalable AI-driven value delivery. The AVP will play a critical role in ensuring that AI and automation capabilities are accessible, governed appropriately, and aligned with MetLife's business and technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead global enablement of MetLife's hybrid intelligent automation and artificial intelligence platforms, ensuring platform coherence, adoption scalability, and business alignment across all regions and businesses.
• Drive the productization of AI and automation capabilities into enterprise-consumable services, reusable components, and modular patterns that enable efficient and responsible reuse.
• Own and streamline AI and automation-related approval processes, reducing friction while maintaining required oversight, compliance traceability, and ethical standards.
• Lead the formation and development of federated Centers of Excellence supporting intelligent automation and AI; mentor capability leaders and drive cohesion across federated teams.
• Improve business impact of vendor-sourced platforms and tooling by aligning capabilities with identified use cases, minimizing vendor sprawl, enabling the enterprise on new platform capabilities, and maintaining clear operating models aligned with MetLife's expectations.
• Serve as strategic partner to senior business and technology stakeholders to ensure automation and AI initiatives are aligned with enterprise objectives and structured for sustained value.
• Evaluate the health and performance of the overall AI and automation portfolio, identifying opportunities to rebalance investments toward higher-impact use cases or capabilities.
• Establish methods for quantifying solution effectiveness and realized business value, enabling better prioritization, reuse, and storytelling around automation impact.
• Lead cultural and mindset shifts by enabling fast, visible wins at scale, using these to anchor adoption of new platform behaviors and practices.
Required Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience spanning enterprise technology, business transformation, platform architecture, and large-scale program leadership.
• Background integrating professional consulting skills, business acumen, and deep technical fluency without anchoring to a single engineering discipline or technology stack.
• Demonstrated success leading global enablement initiatives that required operating across diverse technical environments, compliance landscapes, and organizational silos.
• Experience forming and scaling Centers of Excellence or similar capability hubs to drive sustainable value and internal enablement.
• Proven ability to design and operationalize reusable frameworks that balance control with autonomy, driving platform leverage without impeding business agility.
• Strong communication and influence skills with demonstrated success navigating matrixed global enterprises and cross-functional stakeholder environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or regulated global industries.
• Familiarity with AI/automation tooling ecosystems (e.g., RPA, workflow orchestration, low-code platforms, LLM-based services) from a platform management or architecture perspective.
• Experience designing metrics frameworks for AI solution effectiveness, platform adoption, and value realization.
Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
The expected salary range for this position is . This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
