Great American's Corporate Claims Resolution Services (CRS) team receives a variety of claims from numerous Great American Insurance Company divisions involving property, general liability, professional liability, ocean marine, commercial auto, employer's liability, aviation, and employment practices liability. In addition, CRS handles Great American legacy claims.
Great American's culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in-office days are Tuesday-Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Oversees Claims department operations, optimizing workflows and ensuring high productivity.
Develops and implements strategic plans for the Claims department to align with business goals and objectives.
Leads the strategic oversight of claims settlements to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability, and damages.
Advises team members on claim file management including settlement and reserving strategies. Analyzes claims data to identify trends, assess performance, and provide regular reports to senior management.
Establishes reserves and provides insights or reports to Corporate Claims or senior management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: Generally, a minimum of 6 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling, including a minimum of 3 years leadership experience. Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as Associate in Claims (AIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
Scope of Job/Qualifications: Typically manages 3 or more reports, as well as potentially managing supervisors / managers. Implements policies, procedures, and strategies under the direction of management. Leads and mentors claims professionals, ensuring they achieve excellence in their roles. Serves as a resource on insurance policy and claims handling procedures. Responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and service quality. Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Ensures new members of the team receive proper training.
