Description: The Simsbury, CT team within CSI IT has an opening for a Programmer Analyst (PA).
As a PA, you will be accountable for:
-Maintaining existing applications and developing new applications for Chubb Specialty.
-Developing and implementing solutions to business requests and technical challenges in support of high-priority CSI initiatives.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Works independently to design, develop and implement new programs and/or changes to existing systems. Writes programs of moderate complexity and scope, working with basic applications systems designs and specifications and utilizing standard procedures and techniques. Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Familiarity with insurance products and policy systems, rules and methodologies, rating algorithms, underwriting and business rules, strong analytical and logic skills are required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Leverages experience with insurance products, rules and methodologies, and works collaboratively with Actuary, Business Analysts and State Filings to produce the correct solutions.
•Participates in the analysis, development/maintenance, testing and implementation of applications development, problem/code solutions, and enhancements.
•Designs and codes programs, creating test transactions and runs tests to find errors and revise programs.
•Interfaces with system designers to design, code, test and implement applications programs. Assist in developing application specifications.
•Gives guidance to programmers and trainees.
•Develops program specs to be used by others.
•Serve as a SME for various tools/technologies/processes with sub-group or team.
•Maintains a focus on the highest priority activities
•Works toward improved customer relationships by being professional at all times
•Collaborates with other team members in supporting their tasks/deliverables without compromising own responsibilities.
•Actively monitor error logs and requests for systems supported and take measures to improve
•Maintains current documentation of owned systems
•Is able to speak in business terminology
•Understands and applies the best practices of IT management to decision making processes
•Performs thorough unit testing and keeps system and keeps system and QC errors to a minimum.
•Provides accurate and complete estimates to project manager
•Produces designs that are thorough and traceable to all the business and technical requirements
•Complies with the appropriate Change Management and Release Management processes
•Contributes new ideas for internal processes or reusable code modules

Tech Skills
target: experience in using Duck Creek Technologies EXAMPLE Author tool (other keywords: Duck Creek Manuscript(-ing,-er,-or), XML)
VB .NET development
SQL scripting (Database = Informix, but Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server experience ok)
Java development, Blaze Rules Engine not required, but a value-add

Knowledge of Property and Casualty systems is preferred.
