JOB GROUP SUMMARY
Management professionals develop and implement strategies and policies to direct our operations, subsidiaries, major projects and functional groups. They help our business units and our company meet corporate objectives and compete more successfully in the marketplace.

EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Master's degree.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director will be joining the Office of Public Policy, which seeks to identify solutions for critical health policy position to benefit Aetna's business, and to strengthen the company's position as a thought leader. The Office plays an important role in informing and helping to shape the company stances on key public policy issues.

Specific responsibilities of the Director include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Analyzing critical health policy issues and preparing memoranda, background papers and presentations for internal and external distribution;
- Monitoring federal policy initiatives
-Understanding impact on business operations
-Develops solutions to pressing public policy problems


ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
Candidates should possess an advanced degree in public policy (e.g., MPP, MPA, PhD), law (JD) or a health-related field (e.g., MD, MPH) or have corresponding experience in public policy. A minimum of five years experience in the health care field is required. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of legislative processes and decision making. Strong research and writing skills are essential. A high level of attention to detail and accuracy, intellectual flexibility, excellent team work, strong communications skills, and the ability to meet frequent deadlines are characteristics necessary for success.
